An Inevitable Fate?

Chapter 8 - 8: His future, her past (2)

"Not Rachel. Call her sister-in-law. Also don't you dare think of doing anything nonsense to her sister." Aaron warned him.

"Puff! Bro? Sister-in-law? Then, that guy Darren is my brother? Puff" Alan couldn't take it anymore. 'Haha, nice joke!'

Aaron didn't respond but the deathly glare from his eyes was enough to stop Alan's blabbering mouth.

'Shut up Alan, if you want to leave this room alive!' he thought.

He took a deep breath. "I'm sorry, bro! I'm not backing out from my mission." saying this he dashed out of the room.

Aaron smirked and went to bed. His younger brother had a few screws loose. Apart from that, everything else was perfect. Well, that's what he believed.

His phoned vibrated, indicating a new message. Seeing the sender's name, he knew what it could be about. He opened the message.

'You failed even before you could try.'

He mocked and replied. 'It's not over. Just the beginning, Dad'

Yes. It was his dad who had texted him. He was against his son's decision. He wanted him to concentrate on his career. He wanted him to become the no.1 businessman. 4 years back, he had made a deal with him stating that he would allow him to pursue his women only if he could become strong enough to fight in this merciless business world.

That was the main reason for him not to return to Canada. He had missed her but couldn't do anything. At that time, he was a teenager who was helpless in front of his father without any power. Those full 4 years was like a jail to him. He had hidden his feelings for her and had worked his a.s.s off to satisfy his dad.

But just one week back, he learned about her engagement. He wanted to go back at that right moment itself but his father had denied. Aaron was enraged. He made a bet saying that if he could not convince her before her marriage, he would return to the U.S permanently. Also, he agreed to make their company become the leading company.

Now, he's grown up, he wanted to fight his father to protect his love. Even after the series of blackmailing, he respected him, after all, he was his father. But it's just that, his father was too strict and a cold-blooded animal without any emotions. Even Aaron was like his father until he met Rachel. Unknowingly she had changed his life. On that day, he had decided to spend the rest of his life with her.

Remembering her pure face, he mumbled, 'Sigh! One more sleepless night.'

Rachel slowly drifted off to sleep. She dreamed about her childhood days.

"Dad, let's go to the amus.e.m.e.nt park today! You promised me!" 10-year-old Rachel asked her dad.

"Yes, baby girl. As I promised, I will take you. Haha" They had gone to the amus.e.m.e.nt park that day morning.

"Mom, Dad, it's so fun here! Let's come back here again!" Rachel said with a cheerful voice. But that was the last time she got to visit with her parents.

"Rachel, I am leaving now." In her dream, suddenly she heard Eric's voice.

"Okay. You are coming back early today right?" She asked with a gleeful smile.

"Why?" Her smile froze hearing his reply. Seeing her pouting face, he laughed.

"I remember. It's your birthday today. I will take you out for dinner. Be ready and-" She lifted her face as he stopped speaking.

He leaned and pecked on her lips. "Stop pouting now." Saying this, he left.

Holding her burning cheeks, she went inside. Evening, she got ready wearing her favorite baby blue colored knee-length dress. She was waiting for him, having a silly smile on her face.

Her phone rang. Thinking that it could be from Eric, she excitedly ran to pick up the phone call. But seeing an unknown number, she pouted.

"We are calling from Green's hospital. Am I speaking to Mrs. Eric?"

"Yes?" Rachel answered.
