An Inevitable Fate?

Chapter 70 - 70: The press conference. (1)

"What do you mean annul the marriage? Did you even ask my permission?"

"Why should I ask you?"

"Because this is my marriage!" He roared.

"That is of no use anymore."

"..."

Contrary to him, his father looked a lot calmer.

"What do you mean, dad?"

What did his father mean by of no use?

"I never wanted you to marry that widow-woman. If not for her family background, I wouldn't have accepted this. Now that her father has abandoned her, she doesn't have any value. You can't marry her after the news. You will not only be marrying a widow but also a swindler. Do you think the public will believe her after the clarification? She will forever be considered as a bitch who cheated on her fiance. I don't need a bitch as my daughter-in-law. There are many wealthy women out there, go find one. Just forget her!"

"Dad-"

"I won't repeat myself. Now, if you are done with your social service, get back home!"

He left his son and went away.

His father was true, Darren had not agreed to marry Rachel out of love but pure l.u.s.t.

Now hearing it out loud from his father, he felt disgusted about himself.

Seeing his father determined, he knew what his father said inside was a facade. His father didn't have any intension of carrying out the marriage. He was sure that he won't be marrying Rachel.

But he felt an unfamiliar tug at his heart thinking about the cancellation of marriage.

"Honey,"

Gabriel whispered slowly.

Colin shook his head, saying that he was fine. He said he wanted to rest for some time and asked her to leave him alone.

She went out reluctantly. She felt bad for her husband when she saw him begging for her daughter. After all, he was a prideful person.

He must have felt horrible.

She sobbed silently.

Rachel searched for Jane everywhere but couldn't find her. She wanted to call her friends to ask if she was with them but she didn't know anyone's number.

How can she be so irresponsible for not having numbers? Because she wasn't blackmailed before.

Rachel visited Jane's college campus to search. But she was nowhere.

She stopped one of the girls coming in her direction.

"Do you know Jane from the architecture department?"

The shy girl nodded. Rachel's eyes shone brightly. Wow, Jane was famous!

"Have you seen her? Do you know where she is now?"

The shy girl got scared seeing the enthusiastic Rachel.

"Don't worry, I'm her sister. Her phone is switched off, I need to see her. It's urgent."

The girl slowly calmed down and replied in a low voice.

"I saw her in the basketball court with her friends."

Rachel thanked the girl before leaving hurridly to the court.

She found Ren and Edwin sitting on the bench. Unknown relief rushed inside her body.

"Ren! Thank god, I found you guys."

Rachel panted.

"Sis, you were searching for us? What happened?"

Edwin questioned. Shouldn't she be in the hospital? Jane had also come to the college instead of being in the hospital.

"Where's Jane?"

"She went to the restroom,"

How cute!

Rachel turned around and started sprinting. She was going as if she knew the direction.

Ren and Edwin exchanged glances before following her. Ren grabbed her wrist.

"Not in that direction."

She was going in the opposite direction. That's alright. She had a LOT of time with her!

She g.r.o.a.n.e.d in frustration. Nevertheless, she followed the boys.

But to her dismay, Princess Jane was not in the restroom. She was having a bad feeling about it.

"Should we check the men's room?"

The great Edwin suggested. After all, it was Jane they were searching for.

Rachel's mouth twitched. Men's room? No thanks!

She took their numbers, left after telling them to contact her if they found Jane.

She couldn't waste time here. Time was ticking!

She got into the car. Her phone vibrated.

[Unknown number: 1 hour. Don't forget your mother.]

A photo was attached to the message. It was Gabriel, sitting on the chair in front of the emergency room.

All the colors drained off from her face. Her mother was alone in the hospital!

She quickly dialed her mom.

"Mom! Mom, where are you?"

"What question is that dear? I'm in the hospital."

So, the picture was true.

"Where are you, dear?" Gabriel frowned.

"I... I'm on my way. Don't go anywhere out, stay in the hospital, okay? If anything happens, you have to call me, alright? Okay, I will hang up now."

'I need to find Jane. No.Matter.What!'

_

Outside the city,

The house was small but looked well equipped. Jane's eyes were blinded with black cloth. She was sitting on the leather sofa with her hands tied at the back.

A set of footsteps approached her. Her blindfold was removed. She squinted her eyes to adjust to the surrounding. The room was warmly lit, covered with dark curtains. It looked like a witch's house.
