An Inevitable Fate?

Chapter 56 - 56: There's no future for us. (19)

Both stood there silently while Aaron was still patting her back to soothe her. No one said anything. They could hear each other's breathing. Rachel's phone rang, breaking the silence.

Rachel was startled and then only she remembered that she was in his embrace. She hastily moved back from him and tried to push him back but he held her tightly with his arms on her waist.

"Let me go!" She pushed him again but he stood there like a wooden block.

"Why?"

"What do you mean why? Let me go!" She struggled and hit his c.h.e.s.t.

In response to that, he held her even more tightly.

"Aren't you answering your phone?"

No matter how much she struggled, she couldn't free herself from him. She couldn't do anything else but to answer the call.

"Hello,"

"Where are you?" It was from Darren.

"I am in the washroom, what's wrong?" She wasn't lying to him, right? She was... near the washroom.

"Oh, alright. Uncle was looking for you and also, I saw your friend with Jane."

While he was chatting with other businessmen, he found Crysta entering the hall and going straight towards Jane who was chatting with her friends.

"Oh, okay, I will be there in a minute."

"Okay," She put her phone back to her purse. Seeing that she was still being held by Aaron, her anger riled up.

"I need to go, let go of me!" Her tone was not at all soft.

"To where? To meet Darwin?" He raised his eyebrow, c.o.c.kily.

"Darren! And, yes!" She knew that he was purposefully saying the wrong names, just because he hated him!

She crossed her arms in front of the c.h.e.s.t, unknowingly pushing them upwards. Aaron's eyes, of course, didn't miss it. Since she was wearing a single-sleeved dress, her upper c.h.e.s.t could be seen easily.

"Why are you wearing this type of dress?" He was having a difficult time concentrating.

"What?" Rachel was dumbfounded. Weren't they arguing about letting her go? How did it change to her dress?

"Put on a coat or something."

Rachel Scoffed. Hah! He had the nerve to order her. She was the type of girl who did exactly the opposite of what she was told!

"None of your business!" She stood there as tall as she could. Still, her height could only reach up to his chin.

"Shorty!" Aaron chuckled. He had observed how she struggled to stand tall with those heels.

"Excuse me?"

What the hell is wrong with this guy? Weren't they arguing about the dress? How did it change to height?

"You are excused!"

"...?"

"Now, put on something to cover your..." He signaled her with his eyes. His ears were slightly red.

Rachel followed his eyes and gasped loudly. This bastard!

"You! Get the hell out of here!" She covered her front with her hands.

When she bent her head to see, she thought that the dress wasn't much revealing. But, with his height, of course, he could see properly!

Aaron was about to remove his blazer to put it on her.

"Stop! I don't need any coat. And, if it is yours? I would rather let everyone see me like this than wearing your damn coat!"

Aaron massaged his forehead. His patience level was very thin. No, his patience was meant only to her! And this girl was testing him.

He saw her hair which was styled into a bun. He gave it a thought and spoke,

"Let your ha-" He stopped before completing his sentence. Didn't she do everything opposite of whatever he said?

Rachel frowned. Why did he stop?

"Let your hair be like that. You look good with your hair tied." He said with a low voice.

"Hah, you wish!"

Rachel scoffed and without even thinking for a second, she removed the pin that was used to secure her bun. Her hair fell on her shoulders, reaching till her waist. She reached and gave it a few strokes.

She smiled sarcastically and pushed him again. To her surprise, he did not block this time. He allowed her to go willingly.

Rachel was stunned and didn't move.

"I knew you didn't want to leave." Aaron reached out his hands to hold her.

"I'm leaving!" Rachel bolted from that place without turning back.

Aaron shook his head and laughed.

"She's such an idiot. A cute idiot in that!" He mumbled with amus.e.m.e.nt.

"Maybe she really hates you!" Someone spoke from behind.

Aaron turned around, his smile was swept off from his face.

"What are you doing here?"

"I waited but she didn't come. So I came to look for her." Darren shrugged.

"Oh, she was with me."

Darren chuckled.

"Don't think you can bait me with that. Soon you will be knocked out of this game."

He was confident enough that his marriage with Rachel would be announced tonight. Hah, Aaron could only sit and watch the show like others.

"Let's see, then." Both stood there, staring at each other.

But unfortunately, they both failed to notice a shadow that was hiding in the dark corridor.
