An Inevitable Fate?

Chapter 40 - 40: There's no future for us. (3)

"Happy married life, both of you!"

"Have a blissful wedding life!"

"Congratulations to you both!"

Everyone blessed the couple for their future, wholeheartedly. They couldn't take off their eyes from the couple who were looking adorable.

Rachel was just a nineteen-year-old girl with an innocent-looking-face. Her skin was like a baby's skin, which was as white and as pure as milk. With those sparkling eyes, she looked like a porcelain doll.

On the other hand, Eric in his white tuxedo looked a lot more m.a.t.u.r.ed. His facial features like sharp jaw-line, thin lips, high nose-bridge and, attractive brown eyes along with a lean body enhanced his manliness. And, of course, one should not forget the dimple on his right cheek, which added to his charm.

Not only these factors but, their height difference played a major role in the cuteness level. Though Rachel was 5'6, she looked like a petite figure in front of a 6'1 Eric. This just accentuated points to them being adorable.

The couple made their way to their parents, well, technically, Eric's parents who were on the verge of tears due to happiness.

Gabriel was the first one to pull Rachel for a deep embrace. And, so did the Colin to his son. He patted his son's back showing how proud he was.

Gabriel took Rachel's hand only to keep it in her son's.

"She is your responsibility now, son. Treat her well, she deserves the best in the world. She's one of the purest souls I have ever seen. Cherish her, cherish every moment of your life with her. I hope you won't disappoint us, especially your wife, Rachel."

Eric wasn't a man with many words. All he could do was smile to reassure his worry-wart mother.

On the other hand, Rachel had opened the great wall of the dam. Her tears were like never-ending. She felt she hadn't thanked enough the gods for giving her such caring people who fulfilled the role of parents after her real parents' death. What more, now they were her in-law's.

Realizing this, her tears kept coming out.

"There, there, stop crying on your wedding day, child." Her mother smiled at her.

No matter how many people cajoled her, she just couldn't stop crying.

At that time, Eric, who was standing quietly from the beginning, spoke so that only she could hear.

Everyone gasped as they saw the girl smiling, who was crying her eyes out a while ago. What happened?

"Honey, what did your son tell to her?" Gabriel asked her husband who was as confused as her.

"My hearing is not good due to your constant yelling and bawling, honey. I couldn't hear anything."

Her response to that came right away with a hard slap on to his shoulder.

"Ouch, and, hitting!"

People around them laughed out seeing the old couple bantering.

After the wedding ceremony, everyone went on their way. The couple soon reached their mansion but didn't find their parents or Eric's sister, Jane.

Eric was not surprised by the arrangement at all. He expected more from his parents.

Rachel gingerly followed behind Eric with thousands of thoughts running in her mind. Two mini-Rachels with one white horn and the other with a red horn were fighting over the issue.

Rachel: 'What should I do, now?'

White horn: "Stop following him."

Red horn: "Go after him."

Rachel: '...'

Rachel: 'Where am I supposed to go?"

White horn: 'Your room.'

Red horn: 'His room.'

Rachel: '...'

White horn: 'He hasn't invited you.'

Red horn: 'You both are married, you idiot.'

"Don't call me an idiot!"

"When did I call you an idiot?" Eric was frowning hearing this.

Rachel hadn't realized that she had said it out loud. She clasped her hand on her mouth as if she could take back what she had said.

Damn, she was really an idiot!

"Haha, you didn't. Of course, you didn't. I... I was just-"

"Thinking loud?" He finished her sentence.

Rachel turned bright red. She bet no one else could embarrass oneself better than she does.

"Let's go." He didn't wait for her and turned towards his room.

Rachel had drenched in her sweat due to nervousness.

'Damn, Rachel, it's not like your first time entering his room. But, it is indeed different. It's our wedding night! Damn it, behave yourself!'

Her legs gave away as soon as she saw the bedroom decorated with flowers and scented candles.

The room was lit with candle lights which brought a warm feeling. The flower petals were laid on the bed and even on the floor.

Eric didn't look surprised as he had already expected this. He leisurely went to his closet and removed his blazer, then the tie.

Rachel gulped with nervousness as she made her way towards the bed.
