An Inevitable Fate?

Chapter 29 - 29: A little secret (2)

She wasn't surprised as he had already informed about the incident. What surprised her was Rachel going with her 'fiance'. She didn't believe that Rachel would go like that. From her observation, she could tell, they both were not close.

While Jane was debating with her thoughts, Ren couldn't care any less. He straight away walked to the stairs only to get halted. He slowly turned back to look at Jane.

He didn't know the room!

Jane knew what he was thinking. She gave directions to Rachel's room and went back to her room. If it was some other time, she would have mocked and teased him to her heart's content. But now, she was sleepy. She prioritized her beauty sleep over Ren.

Ren slowly climbed the stairs and entered Rachel's bedroom. He closed the door behind with his leg. Once he reached the bed, he wanted to throw this luggage on to it. After placing her, he sat on the edge of the bed. He took a few seconds to regain his strength.

He was about to leave but saw the boots again. After pondering for some time, he bent down to remove them. A light red patch came to his view. He removed the other one and he saw the same thing. A wave of guilt struck him. It was his fault for hitting her feet to the door. Seeing the about-to-swell wound, he regretted doing it.

He heard a slight whimper from the sleeping person. He put the boots aside, went and sat next to her. Her furrowed eye-brows showed how much she was in pain. He hesitated before extending his hand to smoothen the wrinkles on her eye-brows. As if she was consoled, she relaxed.

As though in a trance, he was observing her face, closely. But, who knew this bothersome woman would wake up suddenly?

She looked into his bluish eyes without blinking. Her gaze was like she would swallow him alive at any time. Seeing the passion in her eyes, Ren's throat went dry and subconsciously licked his dry lips.

But what came next, amazed him.

"Who are you, a pervert?"

"....?"

He was speechless! What the heck? Did she think of me as some kind of broken tape recorder to keep repeating the same thing again and again? He couldn't take this anymore.

"I'm Ren,"

He facepalmed for betraying himself.

Crysta lifted her index finger, brought it under Ren's chin. She pulled his face with her finger. Of course, she didn't need to use any strength as Ren moved closer on his own. After observing his face, she nodded with a satisfactory smile.

"A good looking pervert." She concluded before falling asleep.

"...."

What the? Now, he wanted to hit himself with his shoes. What did he get his hopes high for? He should have guessed this already. Indeed, a sly old fox!

He pinched her cheeks to went out of his anger. Once he was satisfied, he let go of her cheeks which were now bright red.

He got up and left the building silently. As he sat inside the car, he saw his face in the mirror. His ears had turned red. Did... he blush? Like, seriously?

He wasn't himself today. No, it was not him at all. If not, how could he, the overbearing cold person, do the things which he had never done to other girls except Jane? Well, he couldn't consider Jane as a girl. Still, Crysta was Rachel's friend, for God's sake. Which meant, she was older to him! Was he really ... a pervert?

Shit! What was he thinking? He shook his head.

After taking everything to the considerations, he concluded.

'I have taken the wrong medicine today. Yeah, that's the case!' He drove off from there.

Poor guy!

_

Dazzling bright sunlight lit the entire room, making it look more spacious.

Rachel covered her eyes with the back of her hand to avoid the sun rays. She slowly opened her eyes, trying to adjust to the sudden brightness.

She carefully looked at her surroundings. The room was painted white which could instantly calm one's heart. The large window which almost reached the ceiling brought liveliness to the room. There was a black dressing table with a mirror at the corner. There was also a door which probably was the bathroom. There were a few wooden decorative items and also, a big vase with beautiful Verbena hastata, also known as blue vervain flowers. They were in purple.

It was a room decorated with high-quality but minimalistic items. One could spend time alone enjoying its beauty and nature. But unfortunately, Rachel couldn't.

She sat abruptly when something hit her mind.

She was in the wrong place!
