An Inevitable Fate?

Chapter 19 - She couldn't reject nor accept. (2)

Ring.Ring.Ring

Rachel's phone rang non stop. She furrowed her eyebrows and took her phone. It was from Colin. She hesitated before answering.

"Dad?"

"Are you in the office still? See time already. We all are waiting here." He sounded unhappy.

'Of course, I saw the time.' Rachel rolled her eyes.

"Dad, why don't you guys go ahead? I will come shortly."

"Fine. Be careful." He cut the call without waiting for Rachel's reply.

Sigh. Her father was distraught this time. She closed the doc.u.ments, took her bag and went out of the cabin. The corridor was dead silent. As it was past the working hours, people had already left. She went to the restroom to fix her dress and make-up. She left her hair free which complimented the blue jeans and beige coat perfectly.

When she got in the car, something flashed in her mind. Address?

She took her phone, but instead calling Colin she dialed Jane.

"Sis!" A cheerful voice sounded from the other line.

"I forgot to ask the address. Send me the address."

"Oh okay."

A message popped on her mobile. Sigh. It was far from her company.

Meanwhile, in the Lee industries, Aaron got a call from Alan, informing about the dinner. His mom had not informed thinking that he would be busy as it was his first day of work.

'How can they do this to me?' He gashed his teeth and dashed out of the room. He was extremely happy and excited to see her.

After 45 minutes of driving, Rachel's car slowly reached the Lee mansion. She got down and walked towards the door. Taking a deep breath, she knocked on the door.

"Oh dear, you came? Come, come inside." Before Rachel could process what was going on, Aaron's mom, Gina was already squeezing her.

She excitedly took Rachel's hand and dragged her inside.

"Hello everyone," She greeted everyone who had gathered in the living area. The atmosphere was very lively and happy.

Jane got up from her seat, went and hugged Rachel.

"Sis, come sit." She dragged and made her sit next to her. Seeing her actions, Alan who was sitting next to his grandpa, scoffed. 'Childish'

Gina came out of the kitchen carrying warm milk in her hand.

"Dear, have some milk. It's raining outside. It must be cold." Rachel could only accept.

"How is your work going on, kiddo?" Grandpa asked.

"Everything is going smoothly, grandpa," She replied after taking a sip from her glass.

Grandpa nodded his head before speaking.

"It is good to see young people working delightedly. But, don't over pressure yourself." He advised.

"Yes grandpa, I understand." She smiled feeling the warmth inside.

"Where is your elder son? Aaron right?"

Gabriel who was sitting next to Colin asked after not seeing Aaron in the mansion.

"He might be busy as today is his first day. I didn't inform him. I guess, he is still in the office."

Gina sounded rather a pang of guilt. After all, she had purposefully not called him to avoid Rachel's and his meeting. She couldn't trust her scheming son!

"Oh, It's fine. They should concentrate on their work." Colin answered proudly.

Rachel got relieved hearing Gina's reply. She was thinking about how to escape from this place.

'Thank god, he is not here.'

But also, she felt a weird feeling. What is it? Mm...Disappointment?

She got stunned by her thoughts. Geez. She shook her head to clear her mind.

"Mom!" A voice reached them followed by strong footsteps. Rachel froze. 'Speak of the devil,'

Everyone turned to the source of voice only to find Aaron walking to them in his clad suit.

"Why are you here?" Gina subconsciously raised her voice as she got panicked. Why was her son back so soon? Oh, god!

Aaron steadily walked towards Colin and shook his hand.

"Hello, uncle," He did the same to Gabriel, Jane and finally, he stood in front of Rachel.

He extended his hand. Rachel stood up and without any other option, she held his hand. It was warm. Her small palm fitted perfectly in his big palm. How he wishes he could hold this hand forever.

He held her hand without any intention of leaving it soon. Rachel felt sweat drops on her back. Gosh!

She smiled timidly and withdrew her hand. She got surprised when Aaron left her hand without pulling any tricks. How come?

Seeing the confused look on her face, Aaron understood her thoughts. His mind was exploding due to happiness.

He gently walked back and slid next to his mom putting his hand around her shoulder. He smirked and gave a meaningful look to Rachel.

'Rach, I won't disappoint you.'
