An Inevitable Fate?

Chapter 12 - 12: We meet again (2)

"What the hell, man?" Aaron hissed.

Sam gulped down before speaking. "I asked, what happened?"

"Nothing." Saying this, Aaron turned and went inside the room. Without any other option, Sam followed him silently.

Outside the private room, people were in high spirits. Everyone was drinking to their heart's content. Red jacket guy went to Rachel and offered her a drink.

"Wanna have a drink?"

"Thank you. I'm fine." She politely declined. To begin with, she was not a good drinker. She would become high easily.

"Come on, just one glass." He forced her. Seeing her reluctance towards drinking, Darren took the glass and drank on behalf of her. His friends kept pouring him wine. They started dancing rhythmically to the song being played. Darren extended his hand to Rachel.

"Wanna dance with me?" Before she could answer, he practically dragged her on to the center of the stage.

'Why did you even ask in the first place?' She mentally face-palmed herself.

He took one hand of hers in his, intertwining their fingers and encircled her small waist with the other hand. He slowly guided her to the song. He was extremely delighted to be able to hold her, to dance with her. Unlike him, Rachel was having a hard time. 'Stop squeezing me already.'

"I...my legs are hurting due to heels." She said gingerly.

"Oh" Seeing the disappointment in his eyes, she quickly clarified.

"I will just sit for some time. You carry on. Okay?"

With some great efforts, she slipped away from his grip. Sitting on the couch, she sighed and closed her eyes. 'Finally'

But her peace of mind was taken away just in few minutes. She felt as if someone was staring at her.

'Not again.'

She opened her eyes and saw Aaron sitting opposite to her. She blinked, blinked and blinked again.

'Now, am I seeing things?'

Before she could confirm his presence, he spoke.

"You are having fun?" There was a smile on his face but his tone was threatening.

"W...why are you here?"

"Now that you have got caught with some guy, you are being scared?" His mouth twitched.

She could not take his groundless accusations.

"Mr. Lee, what rights do you have to comment on my behavior when I'm with my fiance? I will do whatever I want with him. It is none of your business."

"Rachel!" Aaron raised his voice on her. Her words were like sharp needles pricking his heart. 'How can she speak like that?'

She knew he was angry right now as he used her full name. He would never use it unless he was upset or angry at her. Before she could continue speaking, a hand fell on her shoulder.

Seeing Darren sitting next to her, she got tensed, thinking that he might have heard their conversation. She sheepily smiled at him.

"Hello, Mr. Lee right?"

Darren asked first extending his hand. While he was with his friends on the stage, he saw someone walking towards Rachel. He excused himself from the group and walked away. But soon he recognized that person. He got agitated.

"Nice to meet you, Mr..?" Aaron questioned him. Disbelief was written all over Darren and Rachel's face. 'He...he couldn't have possibly forgotten my name? But I remember his name. Shit! He even attended my engagement. How embarrassing.'

Darren cleared his throat. Ahem!

"Darren. Nice to meet you too." He shook Aaron's hand who was sitting opposite to him.

He continued.

"So, you are here with your friends?"

"No. Alone"

Sam, who was sitting in the next table for gossips, almost spat out the drink in his mouth hearing Aaron's reply. He cursed. 'Asshole'

"You don't mind me joining you guys right?" Aaron asked without waiting for his reply.

Darren knew what Aaron was trying to pull. On that day, he understood something was off with his looks. After all, both were men.

"Sure. Let's have fun." Both were staring at each other. If gaze could kill someone, then both might have been dead by now.

Rachel felt something odd between these two. She tried slipping out of this situation.

"Ahem...let me use the restroom." She needed some fresh air. Both didn't stop her from going away as they understood her reason. Both of them were staring at her back. Darren was the first one to break the silence. His playful grin had got replaced with a sinister smile.

"We meet again, huh? I already know about you..."

"Cut the crap already," Aaron interrupted, still looking in the direction where Rachel had gone.

Darren swallowed the rest of the words, screwing him inwardly. 'Damn you.' He took a deep breath and asked,

"Tell me, what do you want?"

"Rachel." Aaron finally turned his face to see Darren.
