Chapter 23 – Pitfall (Extra Large)

At times like this, I won’t be stingy and use “100 pieces of wood” to make a pitfall (extra large). And with pitfall (extra large), there’s the added bonus that allows me to set it up right at the enemy’s feet.

While dodging the Grimbrusti’s charge at the last minute, I develop ‘defense equipment’…I was in a panic, almost getting trampled.

However, we got separated.

Where are Skor and Alfred? The dust makes it hard to see. Darn it, the Grimbrusti is rampaging around.

“Rasty-sama, we’re okay here! However, since I don’t have a weapon, there’s a limit to how much I can do to protect Skor-sama!”

Darn it, that’s right. No matter how good Alfred was as a knight, he doesn’t have a weapon. He can’t win against an opponent with just his bare hands. That’s why I have to do my best!

I immediately tried to create a pitfall and place it at the Grimbrusti’s feet… but the j*rk moves around unexpectedly. And he’s targeting Skor instead of me. What the heck!

“Darn it, if I create a pitfall now, Skor and Alfred will be caught in it too!”

Is there any way –!

There is a limit to how much damage I can inflict with a stone throw. I can’t afford to make other defense equipment other than pitfalls, and even if I do, there won’t be much difference in damage.

How do I…!

What should I do…!

At that moment, a bolt of lightning ran down my spine.1

Alfred, ever since you came, I’ve been helped by memories of my childhood. It must have been five years ago, when Alfred returned from a foreign land and taught me the hunting methods of the people living there.

Apparently, the people there use to hit a “stone” with clubs or similar tools to hunt wild boar and such. I’ll apply that technique.

I took out a fist-sized stone from the item box and threw it into the air. And then, I hit it with all my might with the tip of the Gale Tulle!

Gang! And, with a splendid sound, the chunk of stone flew away. Thanks to my ability, it flew at an incredible speed and turned into a scarlet bullet.

“Buoooooo……”

It pierced the Grimbrusti’s waist and dealt great damage. This was certain. The monster’s massive body collapsed, and it finally fell. This is it, I will create a pitfall here!

After confirming that Skor and Alfred were evacuating, I activated my skill.

I created a pitfall (extra-large) under the Grimbrusti.

A large hole opened up with a bang. Due to its extra-large size, it far exceeded the size of Grimbrusti. It seemed to be quite deep, and it sank into it. With a loud thud, it fell into the abyss.

“…I did it!!”

As I basked in the afterglow of victory, I heard a voice.

“D-did you defeat it… Rasty-san?”

“Skor, and Alfred, you’re safe, right?”

It seemed like the two of them had taken a detour. They didn’t seem to be hurt and were safe.

“It fell into a lake-like huge hole, so it probably didn’t come out unscathed. However, it doesn’t seem to be completely defeated, but if I keep attacking it with Gale Tulle, I should be able to defeat it.”

That’s right. I jumped into the hole and landed on Grimbrusti’s belly. I dealt damage to it bit by bit and finally defeated it… With the right use of traps, I can defeat even such a ferocious boss monster.
