Chapter 3: Future Objectives

Anastasia’s magic spell astounded both her classmates and the teacher.

She deceived them by claiming to use high-level fire magic, but if you’re strong enough to use high-level magic spells, you can even become a court magician. It’s not something a new student would be able to use, but it’s even more amazing that she used the basic magic spell [Ignition] with such power, so there’s nothing they can do.

Anastasia regrets that she was so taken with her ability to use magic spells again that she didn’t consider the consequences of her actions.

However, it turns out that it was not a dream but rather a return to her past self, complete with memories and abilities from her future.

—I’ll have to organize my thoughts.

Anastasia returned to her dormitory room, claiming she was ill as a result of the advanced magic spell she had forced herself to use, which was not appropriate for her size.

With a pen in hand, she opens her notebook and begins to ponder.

“Well, first and foremost, a hero appears…”

Shin the Hero will be chosen by the Holy Sword, the national treasure of the Holy Kingdom of Selestia, and will embark on his journey in about a year and a half.

Simultaneously, the King of Selestia directed Anastasia to follow Shin the Hero.

Anastasia, who had just started her second year of high school, took a leave of absence to go on a journey with Shin the Hero and never went back to school.

“I wouldn’t want to see him again if I could…”

To avoid Shin the Hero, she must also disregard the king’s orders. So it would be impossible to completely avoid him.

Anastasia’s magic spells are among the best in the human race. She’ll have plenty of work.

But she won’t be able to get a good job if she hasn’t graduated from the magic academy and has to hide her identity.

“If I could, I’d like to graduate… Even if that isn’t possible, I’d like to stay at the academy for as long as possible…”

Anastasia is a student from the Holy Kingdom of Celestia studying in the Magic Kingdom of Shannon.

—I spent the last year and a half of my life here, and it was the most peaceful time of my life. The magic academy was a place where I felt at ease, without my sister or those who compared me to her.

She could only attend for a year and a half, but she was determined to devote her entire time to the magic academy.

“… If only I could make the hero not appear, I could always stay here…”

The last time the hero appeared, it was said that the Holy Sword had chosen him to fight against the Demon Lord, who had summoned a swarm of monsters.

Originally, monsters were generated from dungeons scattered throughout the world, and people defeated them to obtain materials, and things were going well.

However, as more monsters appeared in large numbers, defeating them became impossible.

Anastasia traveled with the hero’s party, so she witnessed the changes firsthand: She recalls that the monsters became more powerful and numerous as the journey progressed.

Maybe the hero wouldn’t have to appear if we could stop the monsters from spreading.

“But… I’m not sure why the Demon Lord did that in the end…”

We were able to defeat the Demon Lord, but his motivations remained a mystery.

Even when we were fighting, he didn’t seem to have a strong desire to subjugate or destroy humans.

Anastasia has an impression of the Demon Lord that is either lonesome or desperate.

He seemed to want to be killed rather than attack the hero.

“Maybe we should just defeat the Demon Lord before he appears…”

A peaceful solution would be preferable if possible, so if the Demon Lord was defeated before the hero appeared, the hero should no longer be required.

Anastasia, on the other hand, no longer wields power.

She was only able to defeat the demon lord by using a slew of forbidden spells.

However, during her journey, she gained knowledge from the demon tribe and received a number of curses in return. Fortunately, her knowledge is still here, but the curses are gone.

—If I keep training, I’ll be much stronger than I was before.

If it can be avoided, I don’t want to kill the demon lord.

According to the demon’s attitude, killing is not a simple solution.

Anastasia had previously felt uneasy and wondered if it was truly the right thing to do.

Demons don’t listen to those who are weaker than them. On the contrary, they obey the powerful.

We might be able to find a peaceful solution if we can defeat the demon lord without killing him.

It would be more difficult to defeat him without killing him, but this is something we must work on.

“He’ll show up during the second semester of my sophomore year… Then, while we investigate the cause, let us train to defeat the Demon Lord after the first semester break of the second year.”

There is a long holiday just before the hero appears. just in time to complete the task without disrupting student life.

Even though defeating the Demon Lord is the main goal, Anastasia has a big problem.

“…There has been a noticeable increase in the number of monsters since the researcher’s magical experiments went wrong.”

In her past life, Shin the Hero himself went to the magic school soon after she got the order to follow Shin the Hero.

At the same time, a researcher studying monsters failed a magic experiment and transformed into a monster himself.

The researcher who had become a monster was killed by Shin the hero, and the damage was kept to a minimum.

It was one of the academy’s rare accidents at the time, and it could have been caused by the monsters becoming more active to the point where the hero appeared.

“Normally, it might mean that the magic spell experiment has failed precisely because there are now so many monsters, but… But I think the researcher’s name was… I believe his name was Foster.

At the time of her death in her last life, Shin the Hero had said that he would make Foster-kun his friend next time.

Those words stuck in her mind.

She was so confused at the time that she didn’t have time to consider the meaning of Shin the Hero’s words.

In retrospect, Foster should have died. Anastasia watched as Shin the Hero defeated him and reduced him to ashes.

Is this proof that he is still alive?

Perhaps there’s a link to Anastasia’s return to the past.

We don’t know why Anastasia has gone back in time, or if she is the only one who has gone back in time. Shin the Hero could have reappeared in the same manner.

“… Even if I think about it, I can’t think of an answer.”

Anastasia stopped her deep thinking because it scared her and didn’t give her any answers.

“Instead, let’s summarize what we’re going to do now.”

Anastasia lowers her gaze to the notebook in which she has been scribbling.

She decides to write down her future goals.

[The first goal is to amass enough power to defeat the Demon Lord by the 2nd year’s first semester break.]

That is the first goal.

—I’ll spend the next year and a half training so that I can defeat the Demon Lord during my second year’s first semester break.

[Look for the source of the monster outbreak.]

[Contact Foster the researcher to see if there is a link.]

Second, something to do while waiting.

Because simply defeating the demon lord will not solve the problem, you should conduct as much research as possible.

—Maybe if we solve these problems, we won’t have to fight the demon lord.

all in order to avoid meeting a hero.

Even if a hero appears, I will never join his party again.

I no longer want to be at the mercy of the country or the hero.

I will live my life as I please from now on.

In conclusion, I will write about what matters most.

[Do whatever you want, not what anyone else tells you.]
