It can also be used figuratively to refer to the Emperor, amongst many other words. In this case, Lou Mu Yan’s saying ‘great self’ sarcastically.

I can’t remember if I changed anything else, and I don’t remember if I mentioned everything I changed. But these terminology changes are on purpose haha. To make it consistent, I also go back to the previous chapters and change it all (unless I missed some accidentally), so it’s possible some terminology might be different to what you remember—it’s not the author changing it, it’s me changing the translation to better suit the Chinese terms. Idk, I’m bored like that, and maybe it’s the tiny perfectionist in me hahaha.
