Chapter 23: Does He Want to Win Her Stomach?

The car drove slowly toward Moh Park and returned to their love nest.

“Come with me to the Moh Manor on Wednesday.”

“Huh? Do you want me to meet your parents?” She wasn’t mentally prepared for this. Besides, was it proper for her to meet Moh Yanchen’s parents given her current relationship with him?

“Even the ugly daughter-in-law must meet her mother-in-law sooner or later.”

“Uncle! I’m not ugly, okay?” she protested. Looking at his handsome face, she said grudgingly, “You’re handsome, but I’m not in love with you yet! This is a loveless marriage; it’s not time for me to meet your parents.”

“We’ll grow to love each other after getting married. It’s no big deal.”

Moh Yanchen turned his head to her with his hands on the steering wheel. “Or are you dissatisfied with us living in different bedrooms? I don’t mind…”

“You’re shameless,” she said as she pushed open the car door and ran out.

Watching her flee, he was intrigued; this woman seemed to get shy quite easily.

Of course, he cooked supper in the kitchen, and she played on her cellphone.

“Uncle, are you trying to get to my heart through my stomach?” As they had supper, she was suddenly struck by this horrible thought.

This was such a tough scheme. He cooked for her, and the food was so delicious! It was easy for her to trust and rely on someone, so she might not be able to leave him later.

“You’re thinking too much,” he said as he put some food onto her plate. Then, he continued, “If you want to think that way, I don’t mind.”

Hearing his words, she choked on her food and gulped down some soup to wash it down.

“Say, we must be frank with each other. I’m curious why you dragged me to get the marriage certificate in the middle of the night. I was desperate because I needed to get married,” she said with a heavy heart.

It seemed that nothing had changed even though she was married.

“It was the right time.”

“I was in the mood.”

He ate very fast, but his table manners were very graceful as if he had been taught well when he was young.

After supper, she cleaned the table and returned to the living room. He was busy with something, and she wondered why he was always so busy.

“Do you want me to help you deal with the issues in the Shen Family?”

This was the first time that he asked about her business.

“Not yet. Since they did that, they must be sure that I have no ability to fight back. I need to grow stronger to get back what’s mine,” she said softly and sat down on the sofa with a cushion in her arms, finding a comfortable position to look at him.

“In fact, getting married to you seems to have been a good decision.” She didn’t know him well, and she didn’t give him the seal of approval yet, but at least he respected her and asked for her opinions.

When he said that he would help her shoulder all her problems, she had been touched already.

“Of course.” He lifted his chin proudly and met her clear almond-shaped eyes. He looked arrogant but not overbearing, as if it was his natural right to dominate over the world.

“Any heads-up of when we are going to your parents’ place?” she asked proactively.

“It’ll only be supper. You don’t need to prepare for it,” he said and lowered his head, returning his attention to the exquisite laptop. She didn’t disturb him; she took out her phone and logged into QQ.

In one QQ chat room, her classmates were in an uproar as they talked about her.

“I heard that Young Master Mo dumped Shen Chengjing. I already said that someone poor like her is not in the same league as Young Master Mo.”

“Poor woman. She’ll have no right to look so arrogant.”

“I’ve got some inside information. It’s been said that Shen Ziqian is going out with Young Master Mo now. Someone saw them entering a bridal store. I wonder if they’re planning to get married soon.”

Those people were very gossipy. She browsed the chatroom for a bit and logged out of QQ, not wanting to read more.
